Trainee Engineer

Work Involved:

  • To work closely with various teams within the organization and develop a full understanding of the work undertaken.
  • To support the engineers to ensure the island power demand is met by generation/ import of power in accordance with link operating parameters and plant merit order
  • To support the engineers to take appropriate action to maintain or quickly restore supplies of electricity in the event of loss of generating plant or supply systems.
  • Under supervision, perform a wide variety of engineering tasks associated with Generation operations, including provide support on the analysis and design of projects and to carry out fault finding, investigations and repairs and modifications to the conveyance and supply systems to ensure reliability.

Skills Required:

Strong academic background with a minimum of an Honours degree in electrical or mechanical engineering and a postgraduate business qualification is preferred.

Must be able to communicate effectively, including negotiation and influencing skills and possess strong leadership skills.
