Ideas for how to get involved

Promoting the theme

Increase the level of activity on your social media accounts during the week to promote what you do and how it can assist with skills development /sense of purpose/ wellbeing. Make sure to use #NCWGsy2022 so we can support your work.

Volunteering and skills development

Highlight how volunteering in the third sector can help individuals develop new skills which can help them in their current or future careers. You may have opportunities you would like to promote during National Careers Week and you could feature some of the volunteers you already have working for you to hear their story about getting involved with your organisation.

Provide information as a first step

Provide information to individuals about the work and support you provide as a first step to improving their confidence and getting into a routine, in preparation for returning to work or learning.

Careers focus

You may want to include some careers focus in your discussions with individuals you are already working with. There are some great resources you could use on the National Careers Week website. Even though they are written for schools, the activities and resources could be used and adapted for the individuals you work with.

Invite a Careers Adviser
One of our Careers Advisers could come in to talk to individuals you are already working about topics they might find helpful and interesting e.g. Writing a CV if you are returning to work after a break; Upskilling and Reskilling options; Changing career

Roles in your organisation
You could use National Careers Week to profile some of the careers and job roles in your organisation. This can help provide information about the work each of your volunteers and staff do to help understand the role you have in our community.
